The design of our Rockhopper Dip Net is based on a very old type of net used for years to gather Prawns, Crabs; Lobsters bait fish and other creatures.

Traditionally it is used at the low water marks in Rock Pools and mainly in and under partially submerged rock ledges, rock overhangs, holes, sea-weed etc to gather the prawns which live there. It is also used in conjunction with a wire hook to collect the large edible crab and lobster which are found in the same locations. You may also catch eels and occasional conger, (which should be treated with some caution as they get a bit anti –social at the disturbance).

The net has a specially created ‘Head Rail’ which prevents the net support cord and loop meshes being damaged when banged or rubbed against rocks or barnacles. The net is quite deliberately 'heart' or 'pear' shaped to allow probing into restricted areas and gullies.

The net head is fully detachable for transportation purposes, and is easily fastened in position using the double push button clips attached.

The net has been fabricated entirely from light weight treated aluminium, and the handle has a large rubber grip.
